Our call for donations in March has had a rapid success. Football boots, jerseys, shorts and socks, and of course footballs and equipment, have arrived. And they are being put to use immediately. Some of the neediest members of the Real Boys were supported with school fees and writing materials.
During the short April holidays, talks were also organised on the football pitch by community health workers. These health talks aim to educate young people about the dangers of having sex at a young age and how to live a healthy life without coming into contact with sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV. They were also taught about general hygiene, which helped the young people a lot.
As most of them go to a boarding school, the Real Boys can only use the holidays for joint activities. And that’s when they plant trees. They managed to plant 60 trees on the church grounds and 200 trees on various plots of land. The earlier plantings at Kamasengre School were continued with a large-scale campaign.
Most of the group members now know how to raise seedlings and have started raising and planting seedlings in their own plots.
