Call for donations to support the Real Boys Self-Help Group in Kamasengre West / Rusinga Island
Background
The REAL BOYS were founded as a registered association in May 2022. They are not just a football club, but see it as their mission to reach the children and young people in their community through sport, to promote reform and to turn young people into agents of positive change. They want to empower the community through their activities and contribute to the sustainable development of the community. The group has currently grown to 56 members.
Target of the Project
is to offer young people a constructive opportunity to work in a team and recognise their own abilities. It also provides an opportunity to compete with other like-minded young people in sport. It will boost self-confidence, promote an attitude of co-operation and taking responsibility and encourage leadership.
The REAL BOYS strive to instill the ideas of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty and teamwork in the children of the community so that they can develop into strong, healthy and balanced members of the community.
Activities
The leader Jackson Ooko: “Not only do we create a very positive spirit of change in the community, but we also participate in community development programmes, for example in the area of environmental protection. We plant trees in schools and homesteads. We also support the education of our members by offering them help whenever we can.”
In addition to regular football training, including participation in competitions and environmental activities, training courses and workshops are organised on health and hygiene, business and finance and life skills.
The members of the group carry out social work and neighbourhood assistance in their free time or during school holidays, for example by helping elderly people with gardening. Good school performance is encouraged: “The best pupil receives a bonus!“
Education – Environment – Community
These are the topics of the REAL BOYS. They have set themselves ambitious goals and have already achieved a great deal. They truly merit our support.

Football matches are played without suitable shoes, which is why injuries are a regular occurrence. But that's not all. In order to strengthen the teams of children and young people and the entire group in their marvellous activities, we want to equip them with the following:
