This project supports the construction and equipment of the WAKIAGA Youth Polytechnic vocational school and the NYAMUGA special school for students with disabilities. The aim is to modernise and expand the existing facilities and to create a healthy and productive learning environment for children and youth from low-income families.
Training courses with a focus on skilled trades are being restructured. This will open up attractive career prospects for young people and provide the local economy with urgently needed skilled workers. Pupils from special schools are also integrated into vocational training in order to provide them with professional opportunities and thus the chance of permanent integration into the community.
30,000 pupils from 260 schools participated in the genialsozial campaign of the Saxon Youth Foundation and thus made this project possible. Many thanks for that!
The total costs amount to approx. 100,000 EURO, 75% are financed by genialsozial and 25% proportionally by our partners in Kenya and our association BaRuIs e.V..
In addition to a kitchen building with a dining hall, a drinking water system will be built and an extensive range of tools including IT equipment will be purchased for the 8 different training courses.
The measures aim at a decisive improvement of the offer, the learning conditions and additional sources of income. This will increase the number of pupils and subsequently secure the school’s operation in the long term.
